Weymouth & Sherborne Recycling

Design, Implementation and Internal Audit of an Environmental Management System at the company's Millhams waste recycling centre in southern England.

Carried out an initial environmental review, prepared the environmental manual including the company's Environmental Policy and develpoped environmental objectives and targets.  Prepared and presented three workshops to raise awareness to the EMS for senior management, site managers and internal auditors.  An employee awareness raising tool and handbook were also developed.  The EMS will be certified in Spring 2008 by a selected certification body.

BWB Partnership

Review of procedures for the storage of chemicals and oils at a combined cycle power plant in NE England

Conducted an assessment of management systems and EHS procedures for  the storage of containerised chemicals and oils at a 240MW Combined Cycle power plant in NE England.  The audit represented the first stage in the redesign of the oil storage facilities and associated management systems at the power plant.  Design criteria for the new oil store on site were subsequently prepared for use by the facility's structural engineers.

1999-2003

Thyssen Krupp

Design and Implementation of a Certified EMS at the Thyssen-Krupp Manufacturing Facilities 

Carried out Preliminary Environmental Reviews at the three manufacturing facilities of Thyssen-Krupp Automotive at Bedford, Bourn and Coventry prior to the certification of the system initially at the Bourn site to ISO14001.  Developed an EMS Implementation Status Audit methodology and applied this to the Bedford and Bourn plants. Provided technical support to regular Environmental Steering Group meetings. Completed site Registers of Regulations. Presented a series of environmental awareness raising seminars to senior management and shop stewards. Conducted a compliance assurance audit at the Bourn plant in 2003.

Green Globe 21

Development of Destination Award and Stage I Scoping Study Implementation at two sites: first, the Baptism Site, Jordan; and second, the Old Town of Bethlehem, Palestine Authority

Support was provided to Green Globe 21 in the development of the Destination award programme. The objective was to develop and introduce a Sustainable Destination Management System for the Baptism Site at Bethany in Jordan (scheduled to open in mid-2001); and the Old Town of Bethlehem in the Palestine Authority. Stage I involved visiting the two sites and meeting with the Tourism Ministers and representatives of key stakeholders involved in the development and management of each site. Scoping reports were prepared for both sites and these specified the key steps required for the implementation of Stages II to VI of the programme.

Green Globe 21

Development of Destination Award Stage II Visioning Workshop and Stage III Strategic Environmental Assessment at the Baptism Site, Jordan

Planned and led Stages II & III (Stakeholder Visioning Workshop & Strategic Environmental Assessment respectively) of the process to introduce a Sustainable Destination Management System for the Baptism Site in Jordan took place in late 2000. Stage II, the workshop was attended by representatives from local communities, the private travel & tourism sector, central and regional government and NGOs. The Stage III report included the draft non-prioritised SDMS Action Plan organised into nine Priority Areas. The report was submitted to the Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities in Spring 2001.

Technetix

Design and Implementation of a Certified EMS at a telecommunications electronics plant at Royston, UK 

Following completion of an environmental review the principal worked alongside senior management at Technetix in the development of an environmental management system that was certified to ISO14001 in early 2001. During the development process Holmes Environmental assisted Technetix to win a grant through the now-defunct SCEEMAS scheme that supported small and medium-sized enterprises in improving their environmental awareness and performance.
